Hey kids! Here are MY PREDICTIONS for tonight’s 82nd Academy Awards. A couple things you should know about these before you get buckwild on me:

  • I chose based on who I thought would win, NOT who I wanted to win. Otherwise, I’d want Carey Mulligan to get Best Actress, etc.
  • I didn’t include all categories, because I either didn’t see either/all the films nominated or I didn’t feel confident in the category (Sound, Sound Mixing) to make an astute prediction.
  • Best Cinematography was an interesting category. Since most of Avatar was CGI, I’m not sure how this voting will go. I’d like to think that The White Ribbon (Christian Beger) would beat out CGI, but as I stated before, I don’t know how this works.
  • I went against the tide in the Best Adapted Screenplay category. After watching Up In The Air against all those other films yesterday, I don’t even think it should beat An Education.
  • When in doubt, I pretty much went Avatar.

Best Screenplay (Original): Inglourious Basterds (Quentin Tarantino)

Best Screenplay (Adapted): In The Loop (Jesse Armstrong, Simon Blackwell, Armando Iannucci, Tony Roche)

Best Editing: Avatar (Stephen Rivkin, John Refoua and James Cameron)

Best Cinematography: Avatar (Mauro Fiore)

Best Visual Effects: Avatar (Joe Letteri, Stephen Rosenbaum, Richard Baneham and Andrew R. Jones)

Best Art Direction: Avatar [Rick Carter and Robert Stromberg (Art Direction); Kim Sinclair (Set Decoration)]

Best Animated Feature: Up

Best Supporting Actress: Mo’Nique

Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz

Best Actress: Sandra Bullock

Best Actor: Jeff Bridges

Best Director: Kathryn Bigelow

Best Picture: Avatar

I welcome all haters, debates, commentaries and questions. I’m sure I’ll be live tweeting my reactions for tonight’s awards, but feel free to make public fun of my wrong guesses, which should be plentiful! Enjoy the show folks!

downtownlobby:

Hollywood Forever Cemetary will be holding movie screenings throughout the summer. With this being by far the most eerie place to sit and watch a movie, it beats paying $12 on popcorn and you only watch the classic at this theatre. Dj’s also take over the night before and after the movie. Bring your own chairs (also BYOB) or just chill on a blanket, but please be courteous and do not bring tall chairs.

Here is the movie calendar:

7-11-09 Night Of The Iguana
7-12-09 The Wicker Man
7-18-09 Bride Of Frankenstien
