“A lot of people still asking about our next original, non-sequel feature. It’s coming in 2012 and will be our 13th.”

24 Hour Party People [Dir. Michael Winterbottom]
“Blue Monday” evolution sequence. A companion piece to the previous post.
Remember when Peter Jackson was so fatigued from shooting King Kong that he had to call Bryan Singer (who was shooting Superman Returns nearby at the time) to work a day for him?
I remember seeing this video back when it was shot. Watching Jackson fall randomly in and out of consciousness blew me away. It was a testament to how much he put into his work. It’s the reason he lost so much weight after the Lord of the Rings series. Even though I was watching this for Superman Returns at the time, my ticket was immediately sold for King Kong after.
It was pretty stand up of Singer to help out, despite some of his “doucheness” coming out (griping about how tired he’ll be for doing this). You have to remember, at the time, this was one of those “cool things”, as Singer had come riding high off of X-Men & X2.*
This video showed around 2005, yet I’ve never forgotten it. I’ll never think I’ve truly worked hard enough on something, if I’m not as exhausted as PJ was. I’ll never question his true love for film either. Mad props to the man.
*Watch for the random, yet awesome Richard Branson cameo. The dude is in the middle of a fitting (for who knows what) and he’s just like, ‘Yeah, you need a big plane or small one?’ Talk about the world’s most interesting man.
