Re-creating the “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite” inspirational poster.
Wood engraving is insane.
Saw Shepard Fairey doing work in Dallas. He’s in town for some projects he’s doing with the Dallas Contemporary and he’s also DJing a party tomorrow night. Wish I had $50 to go.
So jealous of Brian for catching this.
I would’ve stayed to watch or asked to help because I was built without shame.

If this were some sort of Psych Test, I would fail because I immediately see an AT-AT Walker.
The snow didn’t do me any favors.
Criterions in Their Natural Habitat: Fan Edition
so over the last year or so, Criterion has shared a gorgeous (and growing) series of promotional shots featuring their releases couched in their natural environments.
click here to see the best examples.
and now, Criterion is sponsoring a contest in which fans can submit their own interpretations. here are the details:
“We’d like to see what you can do with the rest of the catalog! Through Labor Day, submit your best, preferably 16x9 framed, box-shots to our Facebook wall. On Tuesday, we’ll post the ten finalists and the winner will be decided by which photo gets the most likes!
While all the finalists will win something, the winner will receive ten new releases.”
most of the entries (which can be found on Criterion’s FB page) either hideous, in 4:3, or both, but some of the ones that fans have submitted are rather excellent. look up top to see some of my early favorites, and check back for updates, as peeps are posting new ones at an insanely fast rate.
I have friends who could/should do this. A nice weekend project I think!
